We passionately accept Jesus' command to take the Good News to all the world.

Global Missions

Missionaries and mission works are supported on all inhabited continents. Some works employ the skills of indigenous workers while other mission points benefit from missionaries that are following God's calling to "go". Agencies, institutions of higher education, campaign groups and other creative means are used to take The Message to the world.

The Harpeth Hills Global Missions Group

The Harpeth Hills Global Missions Group is comprised of five committees. The Americas Strategy Committee is co-chaired by Jim and Marie Byers. This committee is charged with the responsibility of recommending strategies that address the needs in Canada and Central and South America. Jeff and Tina McCormack are the chairs for The Africa and Europe Strategy Committee. This committee recommends the strategies for Africa, minus Northern Africa, and Europe, including Russian Federation. The Middle East and Northern Africa Strategy Committee is co-chaired by Mac and Marty Lynn. This committee recognizes the non-traditional approach that must be used when taking the message of Jesus to this region. Kent Kendrick is the chair for The Asia and Oceania Strategy committee. Like those involved in the Middle East, Kent and his committee are focused on the need to evangelize this section of the word with creative ministries. The fifth committee is a Global Missions Steering Committee. This group acts on the recommendations of the strategy committees and works with these committees to implement the missions' efforts supported by Harpeth Hills.

Harpeth Hills Domestic Missions

The Harpeth Hills Domestic Missions support, facilitate, and create venues in the United States through which the message and example of Jesus can be communicated. When appropriate, we encourage direct involvement by members of the Harpeth Hills family as well as financial support. The message is communicated behind the prison walls through Prison Ministry, in the poorest communities through the Inner City Ministry, and to college students through campus ministries. The example of compassion and the message are manifested through support of Disaster Relief, Grace Works, Agape, Youth Encouragement Services, Faith Family Clinic, and special projects with the Department Of Children's Services. Our Outside Benevolence Program chaired by Kathy Clark involves Harpeth Hills members and financial resources with hurting individuals and families in our community that have no other ties with our church family.

Community Outreach

Community Outreach has a definite focus at Harpeth Hills. Community Outreach involves service to the Community, getting to know our neighbors better and to provide an atmosphere where anyone is welcome where they are in their lives, physically, emotionally and spiritually. One goal of Community Outreach is to just be of service to others in our area. We want our neighbors to know we are there for them. We want to be a church for the community and encourage community groups to use our facilities.

Community Classes

Each year Harpeth Hills schedules a series of classes on a variety of topics of wide community issues. This ministry under the direction of Shannon Hickman strives to use our facilities to offer outstanding speakers on subjects from various hobbies, activities, and professional matter to historical subjects. They are always free and open to the public.

Community Relations

This is an area which we overlap with many other ministries at Harpeth Hills and work together with our own Ministries and other Christian Groups throughout the community to work together to bring Jesus into as many lives as possible as well as meet the physical need of those in Community. Some of the Ministries we regularly support are Faith Family Clinic, Agape, Operation Andrew, Inner City Ministries, Room in the Inn, and Alcoholics Anonymous.

God and Country Concert

Each summer we sponsor an area wide Band Concert on the Lawn of Harpeth Hills. We normally have a Military Band playing a variety of music, patriotic, inspirational, and contemporary... Our purpose is to instill an appreciation for those who are or have defended our Country and make our Community aware of the freedoms we have, not the least of which is our religious freedom.

Ministry to the Unchurched

Surveys have shown that an overwhelming majority of the population in this area does not have a regular Church home. We want to be available to meet the needs of these people, and provide a place that anyone is welcome to come. We welcome all people, regardless of background and beliefs, it is our goal to provide for their needs and let them know that we care about them and are available to them.

Special Program Speakers

We have speakers on all types of subjects. We support and promote the various ministries that host seminars with nationally known speakers. We do special mailings to promote special events and services, usually around Christmas and Easter.

Visitation

We make an effort to visit with those who visit us and make them feel welcome. Also we make regular visits to those who are ill or request special needs or prayers.

VisTrac

Each Sunday George Johnson assigns the name of a Harpeth Hills visitor to a visitation team headed by either Jack Locke, or Tom and Peggy Sharpe. The team contacts the visitors to let them know they are welcome, invite them back, and see if we can be of any assistance. Contact is normally made by phone or e-mail.
